The Avengers

Marvel's superheroes: Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Hulk, Hawkeye and Black Widow must band together to save the world from total destruction brought about by Loki, the god of mischief.

I loved the individual hero movies!  To have one big superhero sandwich of a movie is every comic book nerds dream!!!!  It was awesome!

Rating - CW

The Dark Knight Rises

By far, this is the review I have been waiting to write! Plot: Its been eight years since the battle with the Joker. Batman has disappeared with the death of Harvey Dent being blamed on him. Gotham is at peace until a new threat rises named Bane. Bane seeks to finish the job the the League of Shadows left behind.....the destruction of Gotham City. Bruce Wayne must come out from the shadows, dawn the cape and cowl once more and protect Gotham from evil!

Kudos Mr. Nolan. The story line was AMAZING! And thank you for redeeming the character of Bane from Joel Schumacher's brainless and idiotic version (Batman and Robin, 1997). The comic book version of Bane was intelligent, artistic and brilliantly cruel. The plot twist throughout the end were jaw dropping as well! I didn't think this would top Heath Ledger's Joker or the stroy line of "The Dark Knight" but it very well did!

Rating - CW: Not just collection worthy, but this one goes straight to the front of the collection!

Ted

One word....HILARIOUS!!!!!! If you are a fan of Seth McFarlene's "Family Guy" or "American Dad" you will LOVE this movie!!! A young boy's wish that his teddy bear will come to life and be his best friend forever comes true. But as the bond between boy and bear is tested over time, the results are shocking, suspenseful and side-splittingly funny! This movie stars Mark Wahlburg, Mila Kunis and Seth McFarlene as the voice of Ted. CW - Definitely Collection worthy!!!!!

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance

This is where the critic in me comes out and throws a hissy-fit.....

This is the "sequel" to the 2007 "Ghost Rider" starring Nicholas Cage.  I put it as "sequel" because its really NOT.  Sequels are supposed to be a continueance of the original.  They are not supposed to alter plot lines, characters and basically change the story and expecte veiwer to redefine their knowledge of the story.

The original story:  Johnny Blaze, a daredevil stunt-cycle rider, makes a deal with Mephistopholes (the devil) to cure his father of lung cancer.  After "miraculously" being cured, his father dies in the middle of a motorcycle stunt the next day.  Having sold his soul to the devil, Johnny is now forced to do his work as "The Rider," Satan's loan shark.

Sequel story:  Johnny Blaze, "The Ghost Rider" must protect a young boy from Roarke (the devil).  The young boy just so happens to be the illegitimate child of Roarke and is prophesied to be the new vessel of the devil incarnate and will conquer the world.

I also might add, Nicholas Cage's acting in the first one was ok.  It was horrible in this one.  And Peter Fonda as the devil in #1 was methodical and brilliant.  Cirian Hinds as the devil in #2, weak and pansy-ish!

As a fan of comic book adaptations, I probably would have liked it better if they had just done a full-blown reboot with a new main actor.  Even still, the plot of this movie was dry, but was somewhat saved by a little humor.

BlakeBuster rating: DT-I, pushing a RB-I
