Marriage Story

Noah Baumbach's incisive and compassionate look at a marriage breaking up and a family staying together. Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson play Charlie and Nicole Barber, a young couple struggling through divorce while trying decide what's best for their son Henry. It is nominated for 6 Academy Awards including Best Movie, Best Actor and Best Actress.

This is an AMAZING movie! It will definitely tug at your heartstrings, especially if you've ever dealt with divorce. Driver and Johansson are spectacular. Their character portrayals bring the film to life. We begin with a young couple on the brink of, what appears to be, an amicable divorce. As the film progresses, things get worse. Lawyers, court, mud slinging, family evaluations, custody battles, money and possessions, everything is torn apart and fought over. The biggest hook that keeps you watching is the slight glimpses of the love they still have for each other. Will they be able to work things out? If you’ve been through divorce or have even dealt with it indirectly, this film will hit home. The character portrayals feel so real that you may argue with yourself about who’s side to take or to even take a side at all.

Our two main characters are joined by a start-studded cast such as Laura Dern (nominated for Best Supporting Actress) Ray Liotta, Alan Alda and many more familiar faces. This movie is available on Netflix but I still give it a T-W rating(Theater Worthy). Go watch it! Warning: it is a tear jerker (honestly.......cried like 5 times).
